very bad 2,300 takes to replace engine and labor, but the interior and style is
sporty for a family sedan. LOST. IS there a better replacement or different
engine to put in it |
From my experience, you're best off counting your blessings that you only paid $1500., and now cut your losses. You need to replace more than the engine...we have only 40,000 miles and we've replaced our battery 6 times, 2 sets of tires, 2 complete sets of brakes, gas tank problems, the mirror mechanics broke, the wiring harness went bad (which was causing the batterys to fail fast, but Cadillac never reimubursed us, even though it was under warranty), the timing chain went, coolant problem leaks - repeatedly, lots of electircal bugs, and more...not to mention the problems that the DexCool creates in eating up the engine...refer to the Yahoo site other owners who have had that unpleasant experience (basically as soo nas you're doen with your warranty, switch your anti-freeze to regular anti-freeze, not the GM DexCool, which liteally eats away the engine in many cases). If I was you, I'd repair your Catera enough to get it running, and dump it...or be a good citizen and consider scraping it so someon else doesn't inherit the problem
