| Belt Exploded and ripped out a wire. My belt exploded on my 98. Don't ask me how it happened. It left me stranded at night in a bad part of tampa. I was able to drive the car a mile to a parking lot with decent lighting. It killed the battery, but I changed the belt and the idler pulley the next day. The idler pulley was melted and a wire for some sensor was stuck around it. I fixed my belt after removing almost everything in front of the engine. The car works fine. I have been driving the car for about a month and I haven't fixed the wire. I'm not sure where it goes. I took the top part of the wire off of the engine. There is a plug on the left side on the front cover for the wiring harness. The other piece I found was somewhere at the bottom. It goes somewhere behind the alternator. I was wondering if anybody could help me with what this wire does. I was thinking of splicing it back together. I am getting a check engine light. I was told the code is for a secondary air injector or some emissions thing. |
