Re: Have you guys ever considered using a european ECU?

From what I know the 3.0 V6 Opel uses in Germany has a higher compression motor something like 10.9:1 where as ours is 10.0:1 so that is where the added 11 hp is from. Although it would be nice to have their 140 mph governor instead of 125 mhp. By the way anyone know how we can change that?

Running an Euro ECU might be worth a try but make sure it's from an automatic.

I would be much happier with a stick shift rather than the extra 11HP but it just isn't worth the cost.

the thing with the compression ratio is correct. the german 3.0 cateras have 10.8:1

Yeup... Every Catera that I've ever seen or heard of, has been an automatic...

If anyone has something different, let me know, as I may be wrong on this...

I'd love to have a stick though...

Re: Have you guys ever considered using a european ECU?

Oh no we don't ... And here it comes only with a 3.0 In rare occasions you will find a supercharged one, but so far I've only heard of one of those...

Es is nicht unmoglich [mit umlaut] and es freut mir nicht:

Wir haben nur automatische Cateraautos hier.

Re: Have you guys ever considered using a european ECU?

No stick shifts here in the States.

Stick shifts are a dying breed here, I think it's because 3 pedals are too confusing for the average driver.

P.S. I'll trade my Catera for an Ascona B any day.

Re: Have you guys ever considered using a european ECU?

thanks for the german reply
i cant belive it. my wife cannot drive stick. so i always have to drive no matter how tired i am
i would probably ship a manual gearbox (6 speed) over to the US + pedals etc.
if you want an ascona b (which i love!!!! too) i could ship it to you.
unfortunately you cannoth get it registered legally in the US.
i want to take my car so badly but i cant. i would have to convert it to the (lower) US safety standard in order to get it approved.
it is possible but it would cost me around 9000 dollars.
so i will leave it here ans sell it in pieces to get more money out of it.
MAKES ME MAD
