check engine light

check engine light stays on constently,car runs fine,anybody know whats up with emission or what else this could be

take it to autozone and have them scan it for free. a check engine light could mean a number of things

If the computer detects a condition that will cause your car to exceed EPA emissions standards by 1.5 times then the MIL is mandated to come on.
Even though your car is not running badly, there is a problem that is causing excessive emissions. Gone unchecked this could do more "damage" to systems on the car, not to mention that your fuel mileage will likely suffer as well.

Find out what the code(s) are and let us know.
