Crankshaft posistion sensor: 97' cater, where is it located

Remove this ad
I've lurked on this message board for a while to get tips on getting my troublsome catera up and running. Well beside the $600 valve cover job I had done @ 100,000, my crankshaft sensor is out. I've got the new one in hand ($70) but needed to know where it was located, so that i may change it myself. Any info would be appreciated.

I don't know if you notice but the image says Hyundai. If I am not mistaken, the crankshaft position sensor on a 97 Catera is right beside the oil filter under the engine. You will notice it because it has wires connected to it wrapped with some heat protection material.
