Engine shuts off

Remove this ad
I have a 97 Caterra. I've had the recall stuff all done and many problens with the coolant system.I keep losing coolant and the mechanics can't find the source, although they say it's not dectable in the oil. My lastest issue is that after the engine runs for about 20 minutes the engine justs shuts off without any warning except the check engine lite goes on at the same time. If I'm driving I lose all power functions, ie the power stearing. No unusual noises or anything. The engine just stops. My mechanics can't find a reason after two days in the shop (not dealer). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rich

Re: Engine shuts off

I second that... it's the crankshaft position sensor. Those are like maintenance items on this car.

Re: Engine shuts off

Thanks for the help. I'll suggest that to the mechanics.
