I 1997 Cadillac Catera
Two days ago I replaced the fuel pump, the car was running fine, today the car will not start I checked the relay number eight replaced it with what I had and the car still seems not to be getting fuel. Although yesterday it was running fine. I was wondering is there some way to bypass the fuel relay, maybe putting a jumper between two ports on the relay base. To activate the fuel pump?
I just really need some help and I was wondering if someone could help me out. Thank you and God bless
how u know that car simply not receiving fuel, u have a gauge ? if u got that lucky u might bought broken part.
when u try start vehicle is it just crank, ran for second and dies or wouldn't even crank or just cranking but wouldn't run?
The reason that I know it's not getting fuel is because I tested it. After removing the fuel pump relay I used a jumper from the base of the relay the blue and red wires which are directly connected to the fuel pump and put a positive 12 V DC from the battery on it, and the car started. Prior to doing this I simply sprayed some quick start in the intake manifold and the car attempted to start, shortly after dying again.
Thanks for your inquiry I appreciate the help, Rev.
that's really peculiar, you might try using a spare key if you have one. all it takes is a little scratch on these keys and it will crank but wont start. This happened to me after I mistakenly place my key in a 03' ford focus ignition, the kicker was the key had been cut and programed less than three before and it was only two indentations on ether side at the point. you would have to use a magnifier to see it. Just a thought it could be something different altogether. I know when I replaced my fuel pump I had to replace all the wires and float because they had completely disintegrated.
