Sometimes when the key is not in the ignition, there is a weired noise that comes out of the right front speaker.
When you turn on the car, it is still there and it whines when the accelerator is pressed.
It sounds like a bad ground. The radio is acting up as well. Most of the time, it only comes out of the left front and right rear speaker. Volume needs to be turned up really high in order to hear it. But other times, it works fine out of all speakers.
Usually this "engine hiss" is noticeable when only the 2 speakers are working.
When the engine is off, the hiss fades away similar to something discharging.
i have been told that th 97 model year sometimes does not display the bose embelm eventhough it has the bose system.
I wanted to replace the head unit due to the lack of a cd palyer. The audio shop (that i have known for years) told me this as well.
I guess I have to tear apart the doors to see if the speakers are bose?
You don't have to take the door trims off, the speaker cover will come off by it self if you just lift it up slightly and pull. They are held onto the door trims by 5 metal tabs(don't be violent as the tabs can brake off).
I think the stock radio and speakers are only good for a boat anchor so if you see any cracks on the speaker go out and get something good.
(Before you tell me that the Bose system sounds good, I'll ask you if you have ever heard a good system?)
