    Leveling system

I read through some of the previous posts about this but didn't find a definitive answer for what I am looking for. I recently broke a rear coil spring and had it replaced the other day. After the replaced the spring, now the leveling light is blinking non stop. My initial thought is that while working on the spring they might have accidentally knocked the air line off of the shock, but I haven't been able to get under and look. Is that likely the issue or something else? I never have passengers and really don't carry anything in the trunk, so do I even need to worry about it? Thanks!

Did you replace one and did it break close to the tray that it sits in?

    Re: Leveling system

The leveling light blinks when there is a problem with the system, so yes, I would assume they knocked off the air line from the shock.
Bring it back and have them put it on the lift and take a look.

On the other hand, ask them what spring they put on as a spring of a different height would also cause the light to flash as the system
can't get the car high enough to compensate for the shorter spring.

After you ask them what spring they put in there, tell me, I have been looking for rear springs without any luck for my 99.

Good question on the spring. I don't know what they put on, but they told me that they found one from the same year catera. I assume the got it from a junk yard because he said it had to be removed and shipped to them so it took longer to get. Yes I replaced only one and it did seem to break close to the tray. I will get it jacked up this weekend to see if the line is disconnected from that side.

    Re: Leveling system

All 4 springs from the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO will fit the Catera but they lower our cars by roughly 1 inch. Not the perfect answer for replacing one broken spring but it is an option. If you go this route you'll have to adjust the self leveling sensor. You could use the GTO's rear shocks too if you disable the self leveling all together. The thread below shows how to accomplish this plus it shows the drop in ride height.

From experience, they break close to the tray and sometimes can't be seen. You should have replaced both, as that may be the cause of the flashing light. If it flashes long enough, it will burn out. Problem fixed!

I can also just remove the cluster and take the bulb out. I don't have a problem doing that as long as I know that I am not causing potentiol damage driving it as is.

    Re: Leveling system

I disconnected the bottom of the sensor arm and tied it up so the car thinks it's high enough. In the future when I get the springs fixed, I'll just reconnect the arm and it'll work again.
