big420dog

absolutly appreciate the help. Was able to source an ignition block and followed your directions (save for taking off the windshield wiper motor) and did the R&R.

Car is working like normally again. See how long this last before it breaks once again.

Question Re: howto: ignition coil remove and install

Is there any method to gain access to ignition coil without taking off the wipers. I can't remove wiper arms, I think they are rusted and they are stuck..

Re: howto: ignition coil remove and install

bumping this for two reason

need the ECU pin out of the ignition coils as i need to test this. The car works fine when cold but then misfires which leads me to believe that it is a a problem with the electrical.

and to get cadillac 97 question answered.

Re: howto: ignition coil remove and install

it would be quite helpful if someone knew a way to test this as i also would like to check mine before dumping more money into this endless pit.. i had a bad misfire about a week ago and replaces the spark plug wires which fixed it untill yesterday, so now im sure that its the coil pack..

Re: howto: ignition coil remove and install

You can test the coil with an ohmeter . But I checked mine by hooking it up to the battery while it was out of the car. there are 4 wires feeding it. one hot and 3 grounds that go to the control module . If you hook em up one at a time you can check for spark on the secondary by grounding them. Careful .... just dont get a shock .
