tape adaptor question

I have the tape deck stereo and tried using a tape adaptor out to use a portable mp3 player. I followed the manual just like it said:

- turning the radio off
- holding down the source button for a few seconds
- then inserting the adaptor
- turning on the stereo

However, the tape deck plays one side of the tape adaptor then automatically switches the side, plays that side for a second then ejects the tape adaptor. Has anyone had this problem or any ideas what to do???

I had the same problem with tape adaptor I bought several years ago.

This week I went to Best Buy and bought a Sony Adaptor that included a cigarette lighter plug in power cord for Walkman type items.

That Tape Adaptor worked horribably, because now I have to listen to my 11 year old daughter's CD music BLAIRING out of my Cat's very fine speaker system.

I know this is an old post but I just bought an adapter by Phillips for $10 at walmart and it did this at first. The problem was the tape wasnt inserting all the way because of the wire sticking out of it. I just pushed it in a little harder and it works fine.

I have a 98 catera with bose cd/tape player and my tape adaptor works great with my ipod. im not sure of the problem check the wire and make sure its all the way in make sure the tape is all the way in to
