Re: Catera on Jalopnik.com Top 10 List

I've seen it on several list of Crap cars. And others that I have owned!

What irks me really about the Catera is that GM new it had issues in 97 and did nothing about it. I had a German engineer living next door to me that worked for GM Fuel Cell division before they moved everything to Detroit. Everyone in Germany new the Opel version was a POS and did nothing to try to improve it.

I had a friend who bought an early Nissan Van that Nissan new was bad and offered to buy it back from him, which he did accept.

BTW I have a GMC PU with a 150k that has been pretty much problem free.

I'm used to the negativity by now but what gets me is that the submitter doesn't really give any reasons why the Catera made the list, just that it was an Opel Omega reimagined by Cadillac. Oh well............

All of these "worst car" lists are put together by idiots. Would you rather drive a Pinto, or this?:

    A Cimarron, or this?:

    A PT Cruiser,or a 2 cylinder, 2 stroke, sub compact coupe?:

Not sure how old you are, but it was a POS when it first came to the US and GM never tried to fix the issues.

For safety, I'd like an USA standards car. But there was a time when manufactors didn't give a rat's ass about safety until the Feds got involved.
