    LED suggestion

I am going to be replacing the Instrument cluster light to white LEDs and am trying to decide which type wold be better for that application. Here are the two I am looking at.

I am trying to decide which would be more efficient in delivering light to the gauges, and whether the one with the LEDs on the side is a waste of light because it is not focused directly at the gauge. Thoughts?

Im currently in the process of doin a LED swap with all interior bulbs. Want to do the the cluster too but don't know how difficult to get back there would be. Would like to do orange like the CTS. But like u said waste of light possibly, i bought some of that style( first pic. Flat top ones) for the over head light buttons. nice and bright

Awesome write up thanks very much. Seems pretty easy to do. Now just need to find the color of bulb to use.

    Re: LED suggestion

It is pretty easy to do. My suggestion though, get good bulbs. Mine are already starting to flicker a bit so I will need to change them. Another thing to note is that the ones in my first picture are too long for a couple of the spots, so I actually had to cut them down a bit. It worked good with the thicker/wider leads running the full length of the bottom section. When I replace mine, I will be getting the round flat ones like in the second pic.

    Re: LED suggestion

You might want to look up the many, many posts by N*Caddy, an electronics technician Seville owner. Google something like "cadillac forums n*caddy seville led interior lighting" .

He did it all from scratch, with boxes of LEDs, sockets, time, solder.............. and he did it right.
