    Arrow Catera suddenly stalls !

I seem to be having intermitant problems w/ my 2001 Catera every 10 to 20 miles it stalls, Like the key was taken out. First the Feul cap light came on so I went out reset the fuel cap & waited 5- 10 mins & it usually starts backup. Then it does this again after I stop sometimes. I had to have it
towed home & After they took it off the truck it fired right up. Also the (S)
light on the dash was blinking now its off. But the Check engine light is on solid. (Milage reads 67,085).

From what I read in the manual it takes a few drives to get this to go off.

I 'm thinking about a new fuel cap $40.00 trial. What about a fuel filter
    replacement?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

If your check engine light is on, wouldn't it be a good idea to get the DTC code checked? It should give you some idea about the problem.

My 99 was doing the same thing, after some time we found it was the crank position sensor. it however did not spit out the code, and the part was on back order so it took about a weak to get.

Was it very hard or costly to replace the crank position sensor?

    hello,
i just got my car back from the mechanic and what iam about to tell you will save you money and solve the problem.
the s light flashing and causing the car to stall is caused by the camshaft, try disconnecting the camshaft sensor and see if the problem goes away. mine did as soon as i disconnected the camshaft sensor the s light stoped blinking and everything was normal,so replacing the camshaft will solve the issue.
camshaft sensor is located on the right side of the engin its easy to disconnect as its visable you cant miss it.

i spend over a $1000 before i found the solution going to mechanics that just want to take your money and dont care how hard you work for it. i just want to make sure if anyone has the same issue will try this first before going to a mechanic.

    goodluck
