    crank no start issue

    This is interesting. I have to crank the car 3 times before it will start. Every time. Not 2 or 4, but 3 times. every time. This leads me to believe it is an electronic issue. I know where the cam pos sensor is but not the crank sensor. Also it will hesitate on acceleration when I try to get into it hard. Not that I want to burn up my tires but this car won't even consider turning over a tire.
    Somebody suggested turning on the ignition switch without starting it and leaving it for 5 min to reset the throttle position ? No idea. Tried it anyway but it still won't start properly. Oh, And I have to turn the key off when I do this. Not just turn it over 3 times, but turn the key all the way off and try it each time. Works like that every time.
    Anybody seen this before or have any ideas on the possible culprit ?

    Try turning the key to the run position, but don't crank it, then turn it back off. Repeat 2 or 3 more times, then try starting it. Does it start the first time it cranks now?

    Yes. That is exactly how I start it. The first 2 times I turn it on I don't turn it over, the third time I do and it starts right up. I don't get it, lol

    It is the crank position sensor. Near the oil filter housing. Black with 1 torx bolt (sorry do not remember the size). pain in the ass to install as I could not get it from behind the engine, so I just rooted it on the drivers side of the engine. Just watch the exhaust shield.

    Here is a link to an install link. Good luck getting it around the back of the engine.

    Very common symptom of a bad check valve in the fuel pump. What you're doing by turning the key to on a few times is priming the fuel lines and rail. Rent a fuel pressure gauge from a parts store, and see if the pressure drops after you turn the engine off.

    Also, check the pressure at key on:engine off, and engine running.

    i dont know????, it was very easy to install, i did whole job in like 15 min. sensor bought at auotzone for $45+tax
    clip off all oem zippers that hold wire;
    tape around old connector with a rope (so u can pull it from under the vehicle);
    remover oil filter and sensor bolt
    pull whole sensor with wire and attached rope from under the hood
    tape around new connector to the rope and pule it from the top of the engine;
    install and tight sensor to 8 N.m (6 lb ft), screw on back your oil filter;
    then just use new zippers, zip wire the way so it will be away from hot exhaust.
    DONE!!!!

    ...You don't know what?

    Again, jumping to conclusions. He hasn't done anything to actually diagnose the CKP sensor, and the symptoms don't point to it in the first place.

    And FWIW, Autozone Duralast parts are absolute GARBAGE.

    Re: crank no start issue

    Just telling the location of the sensor as I was typing to fast.

    Try the following as Moist stated priming the fuel system.
    1. Turn the key and listen for the fuel pump to run.
    2. Turn to the OFF position. Wait 4 seconds.
    3. Turn the key and listen for the fuel pump to run.
    4. Turn to OFF position. Wait 4 seconds.
    5. Turn the key and listen for the fuel pump to run.
    6. Now try to start car.
    7. Give it some throttle a couple of times and see if it hesitates.

    Could also be bad gas (hear it happen on many other vehicles, guy has problem and cannot figure it out, someone tells my go to different gas station and no problem running good for years), fuel filter clogged.

    As Moist stated check the pressure on the fuel rail
