98 catera ac high pressure line valve

    Hi folks,

The AC high pressure valve is leaking on my 98 catera. I was going to add some refrigerant withac gauge line (red) and when I took the cap off on high side I could hear a hissing sound and took a close look at it and realized it does not have a valve like the low side valve. The high side has a rubber cap / seal in the valve and that's where the refrigerant is leaking from.

My question now, is it possible just to replace the high side valve? I saw some ac valve on Rockauto.com but was not sure if that was the right part?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the link.

I found this also, part # 52471116 or AC Delco 15-5530 and it's different from the link you shared here so now I'm not sure.

    Item #23

Update - I ordered the Ac Delco 15-5438 per the old thread link and will give it a try.

    Thanks

I got the AC high pressure valve part today, AC Delco 15-5438 and it matches with the old one on the high side AC line.

    Thanks.

I didn't get a chance to mess with it yet.

I bought mine from Amazon.com and I think rockauto.com may have it too.

    Thanks.

Yes rockauto has them both. I was sure it didn't unscrew. I'm pretty sure it does now.

yep, it does unscrew but have to hold the bottom bolt which is welded to the line and swap it out.

Okay, so replaced the high side valve and took it to the store vacuum tested and no leaks found and got it filled with the refrigerant. The AC is nice and cold, temperature is around 42 deg F.

Also, found out the right front wheel hub / bearing assembly is very bad and loose so need to replace that next.
