Pump keeps shutting off while fueling car up.

I have a 1999 Catera that just recently started to have an issue when filling the car with gas. The pump keeps shutting off. I have tried to pull the tip of the nozzle up almost to the tip of the tank filler tube but it doesn't help. I even tried leaving the car running because someone told me it could be a solenoid, but to no avail. Anyone have any idea why this is happening. Takes me a good 10 minutes to fill the car when it is half full.

Are you sure you don't have something stuck in the filler neck? I read somewhere that sometimes when people add stuff to the gas, the peel-off sticker on the additive bottle winds up there.

It'd be essentially impossible for that to clog the filler neck.

It's most likely a problem with the tank vent.

This sounds familiar! I'd like to know a way to fix it as well.
