    Wood grain around the shifter

So it's a 2001 and there's wood grain around the shifter and yesterday I set something down on the wood grain and it rolled underneath the head unit and it's now stuck in this little compartment that's I can't reach with my fingers. Is there a way to take this out and be able to put it back in like nothing happened? Any help is appreciated! Here is a picture,

Have you tried sliding something thin under there?

yeah, I want to point out that me fishing it out with something very thin might be impossible. I pushed my fingers in there and I could touch the object I need, but I can't bend my fingers to grab it. The only way I can see myself getting it out of there is if I am able to lift off the woodgrain piece.

Point where it is. A cheap cable with a claw on the end might work. Less than 5mm diameter. Ive used it before. wrap in painter's tape so it doesn't scratch.

right under the head unit. It rolled down into an opening and god knows where it rolled to in that opening. I'll be honest, I tried getting it again just now. It's a souvenir to the Catera. While I was looking I found some Altoid strips under the vinyl on the sides from the previous owner. Maybe it will make its way down through the sides of the vinyl in time. That's all I can hope for.

Head unit? Is that the vertical part in front of the shifter? If so try removing the ashtray and you might be able to disassemble the ashtray compartment to reach what you are looking for. If not, the item will work it's way to some ungodly area and cause more electrical issues.
