    A milky cap can be caused by condensation in the crankcase. Take many short (less than 20 minute) trips?

    That won't cause a milky cap, but it's a vacuum leak.

    ........... or a non-functional PCV system - which is designed to prevent just that sort of moisture buildup.

    Don't mistake our suggestions as expertise. The mayo could be what we say but again it could be a leaking oil cooler which is catastrophic if ignored. If it were a blown head gasket there'd be overheating and loss of coolant. Mechanics unfamiliar with the L81 engine are quick to blame the head gasket. While it does happen it isn't very common. Just keep the coolant level right and you shouldn't have to worry. Still some kind of compression test couldn't hurt.

    IF an HG issue was suspected, I'd recommend a block test over a compression test. Quicker, easier, and more accurate.
