    Security system malfunctioning

    My Catera 2000 won't start after the "Security" ligth came on the indicator

    Try locking your car with key and wait 30 to 40 seconds and unlock with the key and try restarting it. If not then try to turn the car key to ON position and wait about 3 minutes then turn it OFF and try to start it. I had same problem on my Chevy Malibu, when the theft system is activated it shut downs eveything else.

    I did the similar steps and it worked for me for a while but this morning had the same theft syetem came on and tried everything and it didn't work so ended up changing the ignition switch behind the ignition lock today. Now car is starting up fine and the Catera setup might be different.
