    QuestionOperating Temperature

    Can anybody tell me what is the average operating temperature of the '97 Catera and where should the needle be on the temperature gauge?

    on my 97 and this time of year(dam cold) just below half way mark, in summer, (dam Hot) just above half way mark. given this is when the car is going down the road, when it's stop in traffic or at a long light, it will rise to the 3/4 mark just below the red before the fans kick in and bring it back down to just above the haft way mark.

    PS just remember the gauge runs off a senor, if the senor is bad, then the gauge is reading bad

    Yea! First Post! My 97 runs around the same. Needle about halfway up on the gauge. Not really sure but I would guess thats around 190 degrees, fans probably kick in around 215 but like I said thats just a guess.
