    Valve Cover change log...

For all of you struggling with oil in your spark plugs, this post may be useful if you can track down the right parts for cheap. You can end your valve cover leakage once and for all!

    Fel-Pro Saab valve covers

Much meatier than the stock rubberband valve covers.

Metal Saab valve covers peaking out under all that.

Much better than the stock plastic ones.

My advice: don't ever let anyone work on your car whom you don't trust. The guy I paid nearly $600 to fix the leak. He cracked my valve covers by overtightening them and neglected to reconnect my vacuum hoses and even broke them. The result was oil caked everywhere and having to fill it every week with oil.

This job cost less than $200 and hours wrenching with me and my brother. I couldn't have done it without him.

I got the valve covers from eBay for $102, used.

And the gaskets are from rockauto.com. $43

    The result: no leaks

Towards the back near the coolant reservoir. One of the few drawbacks

any leaks or issues with these covers?

Are the plug holes open and any moisture can get in?

    Nope.

Yes they are, but no moisture can get in. Just be very careful and do not work on your car while it is raining or windy

What year Saturn L300 did you get it from? The ones on Saturn that I have seen have the rectangular opening for the plugs and no oil filler neck whereas the Saab has the round plug opening and also has a oil filler neck.

    Thanks.

Looking at the pics from the Saab valve covers they are the same but the oil cap is on the right side where the wiring harness is located at the rear and the Saab oil cap is on the left at the rear. I got them of a 2000 ls2, they are a perfect fit but because of the oil cap and the wiring harness the Saab valve covers might be the way to go. I have to take a good look to know for sure. As far as the Saab covers 99-01 3.0 covers are what u want.
