Need some help!!! 97 Caddy!!!

OK so my radio does not work or the moon roof. I was going to have it fixed this week. Took a while to do cause I know it is going to cost me. How much I do not know.

Now the battery died. I just replaced it a month or two ago.
Tried jumping the battery and it did not keep the charge.

So now I have to take the Subway to work with every Tom, Dick and harry that has a cough or sniffle.(No one ever covers their mouth anymore!!)

What is wrong with the car? Any hints? Tried the fuses already!
Very frustrated! What a ******* Lemon! Plus I live in Toronto and they charge here $100 for the link to the cars computer!!!!

Can anyone help!!!

Re: Need some help!!! 97 Caddy!!!

Let's clarify. You jump started the car and it ran, right? But the battery won't hold a charge? I assume you ran the car for a while 15-20 min to charge the battery up. Can the battery start the car immediately after being charged? Then, I would disconnect the battery overnight and see if it still has a charge in the morning. If so, something is draining it. Otherwise, your battery is bad. Take it back to the store for an exchange.
On my 98, there is a procedure to program the sunroof in the owners manual. It involves turning and pushing in the dial at different positions. Try that. No idea on the radio other than things will stop working with a low battery. But the car wouldn't start with a low charge either.

Thanks I will try taking the battery out tonight when I get home.
And I will look at my manual to see if it has the sunroof proceedure.

OK here is the deal I had to take it to the Dealer. The battery removal unfortunately did not work. Batttery is still dead. The Dealer told me that the Water pump auxillary unit ceezed. Anyone experience this also. And how much did you all spend.

Re: Need some help!!! 97 Caddy!!!

Wait, your water pump seized and this caused your battery to die? There has to be more to it.
Was the accessory belt broken? Was the car overheating? There would be squealing/smoke from the belt of this was the case. If the waterpump was seized, your car would overheat in short order.
If the battery was getting a charge from the alternator and couldn't hold it overnight with nothing connected, then it's simply a dead battery. Would it restart 15 minutes after jump-starting it? If so, then it's getting charged by the alternator but not holding it for a long time. Otherwise, bad alternator or the belt isn't turning it for whatever reason.

I hope your problem is fixed. I'm just asking these questions because the solution doesn't make sense.

Re: Need some help!!! 97 Caddy!!!

It was the auxillary pump to the water pump. Thats what Cadillac told me.
They also told me that it was electrical (the pump). There was a wiring
harness that was corroded and needed to be replaced. That wiring is what
caused the pump to seize and what made all the systems fuses go off.
They are apparently all connected on the same cuircut. When the car did
run it did run alittle hot. Cadillac is also trying to charge the battery with
their machine to see if it keeps a charge over night. They did test the
alternator and they told me that it was working fine. And no belts broke (first thing I checked). No problem about the questions. I appreciate the input!!!

This car is just a money sucking lemon!

I am going home for the holidays and I am trying to sell the darn thing!!!!

Re: Need some help!!! 97 Caddy!!!

Interesting. Now that I think about it, there is a small pump near the coolant bottle. I just learned something new.
Thanks for the extra info.
