Heater control valves?

I have heat on the drivers side but it blows cold air on the passenger side. Is there 2 heater control valves due to the dual climate control? If this is the case where is the passenger side valve located and how much do these cost?

Re: Heater control valves?

Theres only one heater control valve.

One thing you can try and do is hold the auto and off buttons on the climate control for 5+ seconds with the key in the on position. This resets the actuator doors to control levels.

Re: Heater control valves?

I read that on another post and tried it but it didn't change things. Anyone else have an idea on this?

Re: Heater control valves?

My 1996 STS with dual climate control zones had the same problem, passenger side blows cold air while the driver side has the heat.

The fix was a new accuator motor. The motor (actually the passenger side had two accuator motors one on top of the interior heater box and one on the bottom. The top was inoperable. I removed the glove box for access to the accuator. It is easy to remove and replace (only pop off the control linkage, electrical connector and remove two screws).

I got the replacement accuator at the dealer for $90.

Good luck.

Re: Heater control valves?

Hey 97 Catera, will you let us know if you are succesful in accessing the actuators and how you did it because i am having the same problem. I tried removing the glove box before but it seems that it is way far too difficult to do anything with it removed. Anyway, keep us posted. Thanks

Re: Heater control valves?

We are having almost the same problem with our 97 Catera except that the heat works on the passenger side but not on the driver side. Any ideas on how to fix it?
