My break lights went out and they will not come back on so I went to my mechanic and he thought it was a fuse blown because it wasn't catching any power so he started replacing the fuses located under the steering wheel and the break lights still would not come back on then the car won't crank back up he has tried replacing the ignition switch but that wasn't the problem its giving spark but will not crank PLEASE HELP
This is logical. The brake lights don't work so your "mechanic" randomly replaces fuses and when it won't start up again he replaces the ignition switch. How can anybody on this board help you at this point? Who knows what your mechanic did?
Now we'll get a post from someone saying the Catera is crap, etc.
The car is crap! However check the crankshaft positioning sensor. Common problem. This board will help you with most of your problems, but some of the members who are here are very thin skinned and can't take any criticism of the car.
if car cranks and does not start its is not ignition. I suggest CPS as kaustin said. Sometimes the car needs a reset when stuff is messed with. Id try disconect battery sit and reconnect.. thats simple. may or may not help.
The ignition needs to be programed tot he car is changed I do belive. Id reinstall old one.
There is a brake control swith that is prolly bad (for brake lights) common issue.. I have seen postbefore... I never had that issue myself. maybe a lil help fom somone about that??
