Exclamation (97 catera) New crankshaft sensor installed now won't rev above ~2700 rpm

I was having the issue where my car would shut off and not restart for about 30 minutes. So doing the research on here replaced both the fuel pump and the crankshaft sensor. Now it is starting rough but can get it started, runs good idleing. The issue I'm having now is it won't Rev up past the 2700 mark, when it hits that range it cuts out and drops back down to about 2000 rpms before the throttle works again. Almost seems like a saftey is kicking on and stopping it once it reaches that point. I did searching and can't find a solution. I tried disconnecting the battery to see if that would reset it but nothing. Thanks ahead of time for the help guys.

I think I found the problem, checked the sensor and it wasn't in all the way. Seems all right now.
