Cadillac Catera and Cimarron Forum Discussion, K134 Multifunction Module in Past Cadillac Vehicle Discussion; Hi,
Does anybody have the Part # for the K134 Module for a 1997 Catera, and where to order it? ...
I fixed mine with a heat gun, its the same concept when doing it on a computer. You heat up the chip slowly making sure you don't stay on the same spot too long(the solder should remelt), or you can always try soldering the messed up spots. Your already thinking its worthless so try it out, you never know it might work out for you too.
Do not waste any money changing it. Unplug the module (see other threads for the process) open the gray box and take the chip out, you need to cut or somehow weaken the upper part of the clip that hold the chip to the gray box. Once the chip is out redo all the solders, spray wd40 and youre good to go.
My radio was going on and off and i just sprayed wd40, it worked for a month. Then the trunk, fuel door and radio started to have issues and wd 40 would not solve the problem this time. So the solders are the problem with that box.
you can either repair the K134, which has 4 or 5 relays in it, or replace it with a new one, I repair mine, look on the bottom side and check all soldering points and found about 5 spots where the solder was crack, resolder them and them put back in car, although I didn't clip it back where it was, I just let it hang, I believe the closing of the door many times over time cause the vibration that cause the points to crack, now everything works for me
