Exclamation Anyone Know 2000 Cat Interior Bulbs?

Still patiently waiting to hear from anyone with experience or information regarding the replacement of the bulbs behind the heat/AC control buttons in a 2000 Sport. I have to figure out how to get to the bulbs or fiber-optic or whatever they are. There have been a few (much appreciated) attempts at assisting me by putting me onto several sites that explain the removal of the Bose but unfortunately the site diagrams differ from my console (frame/faceplate screw locations), leading me to believe that the '98-'99 Catera may be slightly different than the 2000, as the locations described in the said sites for screw removal locations simply do not exist in mine.
Hope y'all understand my frustration as my local Cad dealer quoted me "somewhere between 100 and 200 bucks". FOR A COUPLE OF BULBS?!?!

Ill figure something out.

As for now, I bet the dealer was giving you that estimate for a brand new climate control unit.

My research continues..

That picture is exactly what I was afraid of, I'll probably have to tear out my console back to the firewall just to get to a couple of bulbs. Any ideas on why so many of the buttons would be out? (Only two work out of nine.)

Thanks again boss!

Re: Anyone Know 2000 Cat Interior Bulbs?

Might be some circuitry for the lights gone bad, or the bulbs just plain ol went bad... the lights may very well be under the knobs/buttons themselfs but i dont think the risk breaking a button just to replace a light is worth it.

You could spend $40 and get a whole different unit if you cant "Crack" into the one you have now... off that ebay site.

Re: Anyone Know 2000 Cat Interior Bulbs?

Jeffery, I think I'm gonna sneak 'round the back of the Cadillac dealership tomorrow and see if I can ambush a tech for the info. Say a prayer for me, when I pulled up to the service advisor to ask for his diog. of the problem he just said "could be expensive.. as much as 100 to 200 bucks fer that kinda thing". I then asked if I could talk to one of the techs in the shop. Nope. Then went to Parts to inquire.. he couldn't make out the detail in the service manual to even explain the procedure... so I asked, could I talk to a tech who knows? Nope. So I surrender... I'M GOIN' IN!!!
