Oil in the spark plugs?

I have a problem that involves radiator coolant coming from the back on the back of the passenger side headers..but also I noticed that when I pulled the spark plug number one (first on passenger side) I see oil in there and I'm like WTF? In my previous cars I have never noticed anything like this and I'm a lil worried about this(and the leaking coolant)

I HATE THIS CAR NOW!!!!!!!!!! @the catera

Oh I guess I forgot my question LOL

Is this normal? If not do I have a bad cylinder head?

Re: Oil in the spark plugs?

I would say your problems are probably un-related.

The coolant is most likely coming from the heater control valve located behind the firewall. They have been known to leak.

As far as the oil goes, I would guess that you have a bad head gasket.

Bad head gasket!?
not likely, it is probably just a valve cover gasket leak those go bad and leak all the time, every gm vehicle over 4 years old that I have ever seen leaks from the valvecover gasket If it is not bad, ignore it, if it is bad or annoys you that bad, then replace the gasket.

Re: Oil in the spark plugs?

Sorry.....I was thinking valve cover gasket and said head gasket. You are absolutely correct, the problem is most likely a valve cover gasket and not a head gasket.

Re: Oil in the spark plugs?

Changing the valve cover gaskets isn't as easy as it sounds. I just had mine replaced and the cost was $530. The gasket pack alone was $200. This includes seals for injectors and so forth. Lots of parts to be removed and replaced. I just got tired of the smell of the oil hitting the exhaust manifold.

The rest of the engine is spotless. Kind of a drag spending that kind of $ on a smell.

Re: Oil in the spark plugs?

Just wait tell you have to replace the plug wires, napa was the cheapest I could find, 175.00 for six wires!!!! I had to have the valve cover gaskets done also. I should have gotten rid of the thing when the tranny went out with less than 10,000 miles on it, But noo Lets see I have had to have the timing chain {before the recall} $600 we did get most of that back. s=passenger seat stopped working, Bose would cut out at times, AC compressor replaced. Front left wheel bearing assembly replaced One new radiator Mass air went south also... Alternator went South, needs a battery every year. But my wife loves this car so we keep working on it.
So I just keep driving my Mustang and my F. MY LAST f150 HAD 180,000+ on it all I ever did for it was change oil every 3k, one leaky PS pump. And one E4OD.
