wheel is stuck to car

I've owned many different kinds of cars but this is the first car I've had where I couldn't remove a flat. The lugs were on so tight that I busted the lug wrench. I used my rachet and busted the first one I used. I finally got them off only to find that I can't remove the tire. I don't know what to think at this point and I definitely don't know what to do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks to all who reply.

Re: wheel is stuck to car

Spray tons of WD-40 into the bolt holes and if you can. Grab the wheel on the left and right and tug on either side (Back and forth, like a rocking motion) just enough so that it moves but not like your trying to rip it off otherwise you would bend the lugs.

If that doesnt work after repeated tries... then it will take some cutting of the wheel, or even heating up of the wheel center with a torch. Both of which arent good.

Sorry, I had problems with brakes on a Ford once.. the rotor wouldnt come off and with a sawzall had to cut chunks of the brake rotor off and go at it with an air chisel.

Re: wheel is stuck to car

This works every time...jack up wheel, get a large mallet or block of wood, and strike wheel from behind a few times...should come off....what happens is the aluminum wheel suffers from oxidation and sort of bonds itself to the steel mounting surface of the hub. Pretty poor design, IMO.

Re: wheel is stuck to car

I agree with mastertech.....when I had my tires changed they had to pound the hell out of the front tires to get them off. Just make sure the tires get pounded and not the rim........

Talking Re: wheel is stuck to car

I Have This Prob All The Time. What I Do May Not Sound Safe But It Works Uurrtime!
Heres What U Do.
Take A Piece Of Wood Or Maybe A 1/2 Inch Pull Bar And Lodge It Between The Back Of The Rim And A Strong Part Of The Wheel Well
With Both Front Tires Off The Ground Start The Car And Turn The Wheel Towards The Wheel Well The Pressure Will Pop It Right Off.
Try At Ur Own Risk.

Re: wheel is stuck to car

Heat works, too. You can use a propane torch to heat the center of the wheel. The expanding/contracting of the heating/cooling ususally works.
