    2000 Cadillac Catera Transmission Oil & Filter

    Has any of my fellow cadillackians done there own Transmission fluid/filter exchange?

    If so how much fluid do you have to put in the pan before re-closing it?

    the transmission is a "fill untill" there is a fitting on theside you remove, then fill.. untill it overfills. I belive it is around 8 quarts.. I belive you have to run the car.. its kinda a pain.. you have to have the special type seringe to fill the tranny. there was a recent post on here about it.. look through the posts..

    I just used a siphon pump / hand held pump with the passenger side of the car jacked up a little where I could hold my hand to the hose going into pan bolt opening. I then refilled it with fluid until it started to come out slowly.

    thanks guys it might be worth just letting the dealer do it. When is it recommended to do 125k?

    i replaced mine after I bought the car with 121K and I didnt have any issues. But it was clear it had been serviced before.
