    Daytime Running Lights

Hey all! I would love to disable my DRL's. On my 98 Deville, it was as simple as pulling the fuse. On the Catera, this fuse has a couple other items on the DRL fuse so I can't pull it. There is a relay for the DRL's and I was thinking of pulling that. Has anybody done this?

if you pull the drl relay, you lose the left high beam, try swapping the black drl relay for the grey left high beam relay. this worked for me

Or you can cut the power supply to the relay with a small switch on the dash, ,,, then you can re-engage them for foul weather etc....

My OM shows that the fuse controls the drl and one of the high beams. It shows the "I" relay only controlling the drl's. I'm confused.

when drls are on the drl relay allows 10 amps to flow between the left and right high beam, giving them that dim look. when the actual high beams are on, the left high beam relay splits the left and right high beam so they each receive 10 amps, giving them the bright look. by swapping the grey left high beam relay with the black drl relay, you remove pin 87a which wont allow the energy to flow from the left high beam to the right high beam's ground = no lights. but when you turn on the high beam switch the left high beam light relay would energize and provide the ground, same for the right high beam relay, so you still have ur brights.

Thanks JR. Auto electronics is not my strong point. That chart looks like hieroglyphics to me. I will study it and see if I can do this swap.

I wish I found this post earlier. But I fixed it my way (which is more complicated :-) ). I pulled out left headlight and swapped Black wire with Black/White. Then cut wire #5 on C2 BCM module and hooked it to Pin #8. All is good. Have to mention, I have installed Opel Angel eyes headlights and it has a bit different wiring

Why go to all that trouble to kill the DRLs? They do serve a safety purpose and aren't a heavy load on the electrical system which was designed with them in mind. I even turn on the regular headlights so my taillights come on and the brain dead tailgaters can maybe see me and wake up. What's your reasoning? Not trying to insult you, just curious.

I installed angel eyes. So with rings and always running dim highs look ugly. Only one reason basically. Now i can control my parking lights myself and I'm the one who rarely forget to turn lights on))) and we have warning light for it in case.
