Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, here is what I found out.
There was a 'recall' of some sort for the older Cateras, and the Mass Air Flow Sensor needs to be replaced for those of you who are driving and your car shuts down.
My car already has that sensor replaced, it was done when I bought the car. My Mechanic says that you need to get the new sensor, not the old, and it's only available at AC Delco.
But, if you were to write Cadillac in Detroit, I bet they would replace it for free. Here is there address and I am sure you can get a phone number online somewhere. Let me know how you make out.
Mark LaNeve, General Manager

General Motors Corp., 100 Renaissance Center
Detroit, MI 48243
Also, the leaking gaskets are common among the older Cateras and also, my starter was ruined by a coolant leak, which the mechanic said is quite common with this car.

Hi Cherlyinflorida,
I wanted to let you know that I only have less then 60,000 miles on the car. I would say to any one that if they have this car to set aside $5,000 dollars for when the car does fall apart. Nothing on this car is cheap or decently priced. It is a European made car and is hard for an ordinary mechanic to work on. I agree that these cars should be recalled. If GM wants to be paying for problems on the cars that is fine keep the car out in public. But if someone gets killed or loses a baby because the car completely dies on a highway and they are involved in a major accident then What?
I think the car is unsafe. I am affraid for me and my husband to drive from Texas back to Montana because I am affraid that going through the mountain passes that the car will die, even though it is supposedly fixed, as we aproach a curve; then what we plow into a mountain or off a cliff? All because we can not control the car.
I am affraid to sell or trade the car in because of the fact it might do the same thing to an unsupecting person and they get in a car accident. but, I can not afford all the cost of the car. I now Cadillacs are not cheap as it is when it comes to fixing them. This car is just pathetic though.
Cherylinflorida,
I have no problems with you copying my reports. If you can help get these cars off the road that would be great. GM needs to recall the entire car instead of recalling the parts. It would save GM a whole lot of money if they did that.

I tell you what. I already sent Cadillac in Detroit a complaint letter about my car and told them about the others problems I saw written here but did not use anyones name. If you would like me to post another complaint letter about your cars, please send me your VIN numbers (they insist on them in the letter at www.planetfeedback.com) and your names and addresses, and I will send them another letter with all our concerns and VIN numbers OR you can post your own complaint seperately, which ever you desire. I posted mine on planetfeedback, the address to my posted letter is http://www.planetfeedback.com/Letter...PK-1-0,00.html. PlanetFeedBack then sends the letter to Cadillac via the internet, and posts your letter for others to see.
I bet this isn't what CadillacForums.com wanted to see their website used for, but I think it is only right that the good AND the bad get posted. I can't remember what this forum's policy is on posting my email address so if you go to my website, listed in my profile, you can then email me from there. I believe you can also get my email address from the letter I posted on planetFeedBack.com.
Thanks!
To all: if the below link to my letter to Cadillac doesn't work, I think I gave you my sign-in link so you wouldn't be able to get to it. Here is the public posting and I apologize. http://www.planetfeedback.com/shared...9559-0,00.html
I received an email from Detroit Cadillac today regarding my complaint letter via planetfeedback.com. I would suggest that you all go there and send a complaint letter.
In the email I received from Cadillac, they are offering to pay for my starter. I am going to request that they pay for my starter, reimburse me for the valve cover gasket replacement, and also pay to fix my coolant leak.
JustinDu, I suggest you go there and send in a complaint yourself, so that you can deal with them directly and get your car fixed. If you need help doing so, please let me know.
You can go to cherylfox.com and email me directly if you wish.
Good luck and keep me posted on your progress!
