ABS pump is always pumpin the brakes at 3mph in forward and reverse. Have any of you experienced this and if so where do I find the culprit? Any help would be great...Thanks
Is it that when you apply brakes going that speed that it is pumping or just brakes act up on their own? I assume it is that when you apply the brakes it pumps.
If it could be sensing wheel slip from one of the four ABS sensors. Two sensors on the two front wheels and two sensors connected behind the differential. Probably cleaning these up and cleaning the front wheels from the inside bearing (washing, etc.) and ensuring good connection could help. There could also be a bad sensor but less likely.
If I'm at a stop..in gear..then let off the brake to begin moving it always activates the ABS. I don't have to be pressing the brake pedal. I have another car that does the same type of thing but it only does it once when you first put the car in gear. It's been a long time but I think the Cat used to do it just once as well. I agree it could be a sensor that's dirty and was hoping someone has had the same issue and could point me directly to that particular sensor.
so you know the abs system does do a self test when the car is first started and that will briefly activate the abs pump. it shouldn't do it every time though. you need someone with a scan tool to monitor the wheel speed sensors while it happens that will show you what wheel acts up
