    ecm help

Looking for some good information. I'm in need of a ecm, what all do I need done to it to make it work in my car if I get a used one. I know the key would need to be programmed. What about the vin? Does it needed to be programmed as well. It's a 1998 Cadillac catera.

I just replaced mine with a used one and did not have to have the key redone. All you need to do is have your cars VIN programed into the "new" ecm. Cost me $90 at a stealership.

Thanks for the help, found a place. A used one for 185.00, and they can rebuild my for 299.00 with a warranty. Not sure what route to take.

Isn't the following what you are looking for,

    http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

The one thing in addition to VIN that you should think of is that in case you have the latest updated software in yours versus replacement.

So far I have also discovered that VIN and key FOB are the only areas to watch but I have not done one yet for myself.

    Cheers.
