Unknown White Switch near Black Brake Light Switch

I hava a 2000 Cadillac Catera and I just changed out the Brake Light Switch (black in color) and in doing so, I broke the tab off of another switch that was near the brake light switch and was white in color. THe GM part number is 90 494 519 0789. It is a plunger switch like the brake light switch but I don't know what it does or what it is called. This switch had to be removed before the brake light switch could be installed. Can anybody define what this switch does and what it is used for? Thank you!

I think that's the cruise control cancel switch. When you depress the brake it signals the cruise control unit to disable cruise.
