    98 Catera speedometer/odometer not working.
    TC/ABS lights illuminated.
DTC PO501 vehicle speed sensor 'A' range/performance code.

Where is this sensor located, and is there anything else I should check/test before replacing this sensor?

The ABS module delivers the speedsignal.
The sensors are located on the rear off differential.

You can check if the ABS module is working correctly.
    Any ABS warning lights?

Then you have a malfunction in the ABS/TC module.
Could be a sensor, there are four, two near the differential en one at each front wheel or the ABS ecu or just a bad connection plug.
Could be the plug on the ABS/TC module itself that makes a bad connection.
Go to a dealer and let them read out the ABS/TC with a Tech2.

There is no speedimpulse If the ABS/TC is does not working.
