Juts curious, If anyone have a left side 2004 gto caliper for sale at a very reasonable price? I had ordered one from rockauto and they send me the right side, so had to return it?

Might want to check out www.car-parts.com to see if a local yard would have one. Otherwise maybe a yard out of state that can send you one.

    Re: Brake upgrade

Just curious! I have a 98 catera and have the new GTO brakes and original GTO lines. The brake lines are really close to inner side of the chrome rims so, was wondering for those that did the upgrade how are the lines sitting by the rims? If you have any pictures please post it?

    Thanks.

Are those 16 inch wheels? I have 17 inch Sport wheels and have plenty of clearance. I've read from owners with the base 16 inch wheels and they haven't mentioned any problems. This link will take you to R-Caddy pictures of his GTO caliper behind a 16 inch chrome Catera wheel.

Thanks for responding elvin315. I have the 16" chromes and the lines are very close to rims. I keep watching it al the time especially after driving around to make sure the lines are not touching the rims or cause any brake problems. I'll try to post some pictures later tonight.

    Thanks.

Maybe you should shoot a PM to R-Caddy and get his opinion.

    Re: Brake upgrade

Pictures would help to describe the issue you're having. I didn't have any "rubbing" issues with my install. I'm sure you saw my pictures on page 4. I would take some of how it sits with the wheel on but i'm not sure how much it would help as i currently have 20's versus the 16's that you have. But if you want i can take a few to show how the line sits from the caliper.

    Re: Brake upgrade

that's what I want to see how the line sits by the caliper when sitting straight and turned both towards both sides. Mine does not rub but sits very close to the inner part of the wheel.

    Thanks

    Re: Brake upgrade

For those that did the upgrade. How does the brake pedal feel? Mine feels a little soft at the beginning then gets better as I compress it all the way. I did do the brake bleed while replacing the caliper, rotors and pads, so not sure if this is normal.

Are the GTO 2004 Front Calipers compatible 16" Alloy wheels on the Catera? I ordered the calipers now wondering if these will fit my 2001 Catera Base model with 16" Alloy wheels.

Anyone has info of actual conversion and success or failure with 16" wheels and the GTO 2004 Calipers please advise.

    Appreciated.

    Regards.

    Hi USEDCAT,

I have PM'd you. The calipers will fit perfectly but the brake hose will be very close to the rims. See pictures of old caliper vs GTO ones and I hope this will help you!

Look at this picture too. If you install the other end of the brake hose line this way, then you do no have to bend the thin metal brake line that comes from inside.
