    Re: Brake upgrade

    Another question?

Does the brake hose bolts from the catera cailpers fit the 2004 GTO calipers? Do I need to replace or add any washers to the lines that goes to the calipers?

I know I need to get 04 Corvette pads and hardware.Any other advises before I start this project?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure about that bolts but I'm sure you cannot use the OEM brake hoses. I'm pretty sure it calls for an extra 2" of hose to allow the calipers to move freely. I think there are a few folks here that had Stainless Steel hoses put in. I'm sure you can find the info from some one here.

Your Catera lines won't reach the gto calipers properly, you need the gto lines.

I do have the GTO hoses that came with calipers. These are originals ones and not the steel ones. I'm concerned about the brake hose bolts that hook up to the caliper. I do not have those but do have the ones on the catera. I hope they will fit with the GTO calipers.

Hmmmm,.... I'm not sure about those but if they don't you might find a good hole in the wall hardware or bolt store that would have something that should fit. But your cat ones should fit fine if I'm not mistaken.

Update! Ordered the Monroe ceramic front (Corvette 04) and rear pads (Catera) today from rockauto.com, it came to about $82.00. Monroe has mail in rebates going on now $15 off for one set and $30 off for two sets. If anyone wants to buy some ceramic pads now is the perfect opportunity.

    Thanks

Brakes pads are coming in today and hopefully I can get the front rotors and pads replaced today. I'll try to take pictures also and post it later.

    Re: Brake upgrade

Need help urgently. Getting ready to do the upgrade and I have the 2004 C5 pads and the hardware in. How do I install the anti rattling clip that goes in the center. Does it fit in the caliper that faces outside? Also the end hardwares for the pads don't fit in the caliper so I have to use the GTO ones.

Please respond as soon as possible....thanks. If pictures available will be a geart help.

    Re: Brake upgrade

This is what I ordered and the anti rattle clips look different than the one in the picture from the GTO swap link. The end clips don't fit either on the GTO caliper so I'm going to use the old ones but having trouble with the center piece.

I think I should have bought 04 GTO pads with the hardware...frustrated now.

I think you should have bought the bendix brakes....I think the little clips need to come off. Don't quote me on that, I haven't done the swap yet

    Re: Brake upgrade

The little clips is not the issue here. It's the anti-rattling clips that don't fit. I may have to return these and get the GTO pads.

    It's the monroe ceramic pads!

    Re: Brake upgrade

Its funny, cause when I look at the brake hardware for the 04 GTO, looks identical to the clips that come with the corvette pads...Any instructions come with those things?
