Just bought a 2000 Catera and the radio has intermittent operation. It comes on when I start the car, but while driving it'll cut off and then cut on again. I checked the fuse and re-seated it. I'm thinking this is a connection problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do short of taking in for service. I would imagine it would be hard to trouble shoot if the radio is on when it is checked. Email me if you can: firstname.lastname@example.org
I think all cateras suffered from the K134 relay, the second one I got, I found a few joints that had very little cracks and as soon as I touched them with the iron, a major void opened underneath revealing absolutely no solder to hold the connection.
When that heats up it expands and often cuts out the circuit. Carefully inspect them all and make sure none of them are showing cracks.

I had samething when I replaced ECM. it wouldn't start cuz ignition switch is different. My mechanic had to reprogram ECM for new Switch
