coolant leaking down back of block

I had my car sitting on a small slope with the front of the car down hill for abaout 20 minutes and started smelling antifreeze after a few minutes. I let it cool down and checked the water level and had to add about 1/4 a gallon maybe a little less. the water was coming down the back of the block and the puddle was as `wide as the block is wide. I have heard these cars and bad for the heat exchangers leaking or the intakes, but I have never worked on one of these before. I am fairly mechanically inclined so I think if I had an idea what it was I am pretty sure i could fix it. any help would be apreciated. Of course I had back surgery a couple years back so I might need to hire it out, lol. Also any idea how much parts would run me? thanks guys

Re: coolant leaking down back of block

The leak is likely coming from a cracked heater control valve.
