88 Cimarron Starts and Stalls. Help!

Remove this ad
I need some help with this because it is killing me! I have a 88 Cimarron that starts when cold but when it warms up or is driven a short distance, it will stall. If you try to start it again it will run for a minute then sputter and stall again. After a few starts, it will not start anymore unitl it has had time to rest. Then it will run again for a short time. I have relpaced a bunch of parts including the ECU and crank sensor but the problem stays. I have had this problem in the past and it was solved with a new ECU, but it does not seem to be the problem at this time. Please help!

Re: 88 Cimarron Starts and Stalls. Help!

To be honest there aren't any more Cimarron people here that I know of. If there were I'm sure you would have received a response. You may want to try a Chevy Cavalier forum. They may have a solution to your problem. I believe all the J-Cars used the same engines and electronics excepting the Cadillac specific things like HVAC and Stereo. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. What years should I be looking for? Most of the post I have seen so far are for the 2.2l, not the 2.8l.

Doesn't that sound like Catera's Cam Position Sensor?
