    Replacing hood struts

Has anyone replaced their hood struts? Any tips or techniques, special tools, etc?

Seems like the hardest part is making sure you the hood doesn't fall on you while you are working on it. Could I duck tape one strut open while I take out the other, then duck tape the new one while I replace the first strut?

I did my, pretty simple just do one at a time, use a pair of vice grips to clamp the side you aren't working on to keep the hood up. Also I have not compared prices, I used, "used" GTO struts which may be cheaper since it doesn't come with a Caddy part #.
