No issues with the 2001, or even the 2000 and 1999 models. EXCEPT the oil cooler, which is on all models .. and some other makes too, like the CTS and L-Series that use a simmular engine.

Anyways, it was odd how you got a 2000 for 9k in the first place... so that made sense. (the lemon)

Cool Re: I got a Catera!!

I am glad that you can exchange your 2000 with the 2001. It is much better look car than the 2000. I bought mine brand new in July 2001 when the dealer was trying to off load them. I had some problem with the battery in the past 7 months. The service department think it is the battery cable problem as it is eroded. They are changing the cable and I shall see the problem goes away in the next few day. Other than this, the 2001 runs great. I drove it to Denver last year. It was comfortable and had good handling for the 2900 mile trip. My battery problem is described in the thread of battery problem. Good luck!

    Re: I got a Catera!!

The same problem with the Catera but only on the 3.2 not 3.6. The 3.2 is just a larger version of the Catera's 3.0. Im sure they fixed it but since its still in coolant, theres the chance it can break somehow.

    The Catera situation:

The oil cooler runs through coolant underneath the intake.. the oil cooler cover has sealant around it that can become weak or be degraded over time. There have been cases where the fins of the oil cooler itself have cracked and are leaking into the stream of coolant.
