    well my baby's gone

well it looks like my cat has been written off. from a relitively light hit. my girlfriend rear ended some one, and it bent the hood, crunched the grill and messed up the bumper. I guess the rarity in parts made it expensive to fix.

insurance is giving me $6100 for the car which isn't too bad. but I've put so much work into the car.

the car is still in front of my house, what you guys suggest I pull off of it before they send a tow truck. anything on there that worth taking? I want to keep the rims and tires, but I just sold my stock rims so I can't take them off.

that also means I have a set of GTO calipers for sale since I never put it on.

I don't know if I'll be getting another cat, since I've been given a 2000 camry, and that's what my girlfriend will be driving, and I don't want 2 automatics in the household

but that being said I'm going to look at 2000 catera sport with 127k kms on it. for $4000

let me know if you guys need any parts that I can take off without them noticing

If you have all the parts with the GTO calipers (brackets, hoses, pad clips), what are you asking for them. I'd like to have them on my second Cat as well. PM me please.

I actually miss it. the car ran really nice.

so now I have some parts that I don't need any more

    just email me at dangw99(at)yahoo.com

    heres the list

    -keyless remote
-GTO brake calipers w/ new axxis organic pads (one of the bolts connecting the bracket to the calipers is stripped)
    -a 98 owners manual
-new thermostat ( I grinded down a corner but doesn't affect anything)
    -heater control valve
-cup holder (not in the greatest condition- theres a broken peice that I jb welded back)
-I also have a center console set from a 2000 catera (i wanted to try and mod it to put into my 98, but obviously didn't get around to it
    - I have a rear center arm rest with cup holders

just give me an offer and I'll find out how much shipping is

No TOY-ota will ever be able to replace your Cat.

    It's just not possible.

I need the rear window regulators and electric motor assembly for both doors. Do they work? Want to sell them? If so, how much? They are easy to remove -- should only take about 15 minutes each, if you know all the tricks for removing the interior door panels and have the slighest mechanical aptitude. There are four rivets that hold the entire package in place. You just drill those out and pull the entire mount and assembly in one piece.
BTW -- it looks like used parts dealers are making a killing on these old Cateras. I'm not paying the price they want for used parts, though!

that's for sure. I'm never driving a toyota, that'll be for my gf.

when some one here figures out how to put a 5 speed into the catera then I'll be buying another one for sure. the cat is fun with an auto, just imagine it in a manual.

    are you kidding me?

a sequoya, a highlander hybrid, even an avalon can't replace a catera? what about the $70,000 land cruiser? that can't replace a catera?

    are you delusional?
