I have a 01 Catera. The rear right window doesnt work. The motor works and everything but the plastic pieces that hold the window on the motor track snapped. I took the door panel off to see what was goin on. There is very little room to work with, only enough to get a hand in there. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there another way to better access this problem ? And any idea how much this part costs? I researched this online and couldnt find any info/diagrams to help me. Any feedback appreciated
I just replaced the window-motor on the driver side front on my 99 cat yesterday. There was slot in the bottom portion of the door with adequate space to get that large motor through and other holes to work through.
First of all there is a reason it came off, more than likely got bogged down somewhere. In my case someone did a half a** job of replacing the glass.
and not fully installing the motor back properly.
To be truthfull considering the money savings, I dont think it was that difficult a job. Got the motor at the junk yard for 50.00. The gears on my riser lever were stripped because the window was off track and was bogging down. The reason it got off track was ..... there is a metal guide clamp about 10 inches long that ataches to the window with glue.it had detached from the glass. since this stablizes the window, the window was sitting crooked and bogged down and stripped the lever on the motor.
The guide clamp is attached to a rail that runs from top to bottom on the inside of the door.
Now Im speaking of the front door, can't be that much of a differerce ...I guess.
I went and looked at the motor I removed, those plastic pieces you are asking about don't look to be relaceable. I could be wrong.
Couple other things.......the motor is rivited in. I used #10-24 stove bolts,1/2" long x 3/16" diameter to reatach the motor.
There is a website called Alldata that has diagrams. Their diagrams are sometimes difficult to read, but helpfull. I dont thinks its a free service. It is free at our local library here in Indy. Never have been able to put my hands on a cat repair manual.
