    Smile Serpentine belt and tensioner?

    Hi Guys!!!

I'm curious to know how easy is it to replace the serpentine belt and tensioner on 98 catera. I see some cracks on the belt and wanting to replace it. Any tips or suggestions and what tools are required to do the job? If you have any pictures on how to do it that would be awesome!!!

    Thank you.

Hi. I've done it a couple times. It's pretty easy. You will need a 15mm wrench for the pulley. Remove the intake elbows that go to the throttle body. Remove the AIR, as they call it, line fitting- it's the aluminum tubing behind the intake plumbing, it has a 3-4" rubber hose piece held by hose clamps on it to slide the belt through, somewhere between water pump and power steering pump. Everything is pretty much straightforward. There may be another bolt or two to be removed, but that's about it. It should take you 15 or so minutes.
    Good luck
