Where is the Key Fob transmitter on the vehicle?

On the catera, where is the pickup for the Key fob transmitter signal. On the deville it's behind the seat and I put a wire on it to extend the distance. 20 feet is not enough.

Couldn't find it on mine there. I have the amp and appears to be the ECM in the black box under the rear deck along with the three speakers. No small transmitter box. It's a 2000

    I've often wondered about this.
I have to practically be right next to my
car before it works, and I have a brand new battery in it.

You can. I did on my deville and I had a 50ft range. Just take a 18" piece of wire and it's soldered into the box, just can't find the little black box. Somebody has to know where it is?

I found a way to extend your range on the key fob. I haven't tried it so I'm not sure if it works. Just click on the link to see a video on how to do it: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/358044...r_remote_range

That's the same concept, but on the transmitter on the car. You can't do that on our FOB's.

Man, I'm lost here. Mine took a simple look inside and boom its like the only obvious thing there. What year is your car? Maybe they put it over where the disc changer would go? Did you look in that compartment more rear of the jack?

Just a thought. Or like I said it may not have a factory installed system?

It's a 2000. Yea took the sides off by the jack and gas cap entry. Nothing there. Nothing on the other side by the spare tire. It's a factory system.
