Car does not crank...

Well The last two days my car has been acting up a touch, it acts like a dead battery and jumping it worked once. Is there an easy way to tell if a selonoid is bad? Or is there another relay to look for that could be the issue?

Re: Car does not crank...

First of all... cursing us out because you dont get an answer is the wrong way to go about this.

Secondly, what voltage is the battery reading? How many amps? Get the battery tested. Does the starter actually work or does it just click? It could be the starter or a bad battery. It could be a bad ground. Check the connections on the battery itself if its corroded, clean it.

Thirdly (if above does not apply), are you getting fuel and are you getting spark if none of the above are true? Can you verify the fuel pump is turning on and the sparkplugs are firing off?

Re: Car does not crank...

Lol, Hey thanks! It was a ploy to poke some life into my thread.

It does not click battery is good and no there is no corrosion Anywhere on the Battery. My car has 65,000 miles and is showroom clean for the most part. Not a thing and it seems to only occur mid day when it is very hot out. I cant say but I may just have to start throwing hard earned money at it just to remain mobile. Starting with the relay, then starter itself then maybe if that doesnt work the ignition switch... maybe ALL wires and cables just in case..........

See where this is going?

Re: Car does not crank...

It could have something to do with the camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor... maybe even something MAP sensor related.

If the injectors arent firing or its not getting spark ... check that stuff too. check fuel flow.

Otherwise it might be time to get it taken to a reputable mechanic

Re: Car does not crank...

Well Im sure its not a sensor since it does not even begin to turn over.

It will make no attempt to do anything but silently sit there when its hot.

You have full power from the battery for everything but the starter. It does not even attempt to engauge. No clicking no straaining no nothing.

No relay click no nothing!

Just as if the ignition its self is not making contact.

Every freaking day when its hot! in the eve, its fine, morning fine. mid day at noon forget it!

Twilight zone!

Tell me why?

Please!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: Car does not crank...

Problem solved!

Replaced the positive cable and all is well. Had some resistance loss there. Must have been corroded inside.

Finally I can trust my Car again!

Madd fun going out to turn the key and wondering if it is going to start!

Thanks
