    Steering noise

I feel something shift in the steering column mainly when I'm turning right, but it also does it when I'm backing up occasionally. I took it to the dealer and drove around with the service guy and the mechanic and they both saw it (and heard it - clunk) occur, but the mechanic wasn't able to locate any problems with the suspension. After reviewing the service manual I'm thinking this is either the sphere kit or the lower bearing in the steering column. I noticed that there were service bulletins on the steering and the mechanic told me one of these had to do with the lower bearing. The dealer wants $300 to remove and inpect the steering column, they'll pay if they find someting wrong, otherwise I pay. Anyone have this problem?

If memory is correct, i recall some people having problems with the steering... sqeaking and such... that sounds like a good deal, its a lot of work to remove the instrument pannel on this car and the steering column. Could be a bad part binding up the steering system... its recirculating ball, so that could be why.. have it checked.
